Toll discounts from August 30-31 - The Malaysian Insider

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 — Motorists will be able to enjoy discounts of between five and 37.5 percent when travelling on 24 tolled expressways on August 30 and 31 in conjunction with Aidilfitri.

The amount of the discounts works out to about RM7 million.

This was announced by Works Minister Datuk Shaziman Mansor when launching an Aidilfitri safety campaign at Guthrie Highway’s Lagong toll plaza here today.

He also the ministry has carried out various initiatives including rehabilitative work worth RM15.66 million at 37 federal road blackspots and RM8.1 million at 10 blackspot locations on highways last year.

“Improvements on federal roads have shown a positive impact, whereby records and monitoring by the Malaysian Highway Authority showed that 112 accidents recorded on highways from January to June 2009 have dropped to 24 accidents during the same period this year.

“The 37 blackspots on federal roads which have been rehabilitated showed 0 per cent or no accidents until June 2011 compared to 395 accidents in 2009,” he was quoted by Bernama as saying.
